Advanced Nanomaterials and Nanocomposites as Novel Platforms for Biosensing and Chemosensing Technologies

Call for Papers

The improvement of health-care systems and the protection of life environment in developing countries represent the most important but challenging tasks. Therefore, there is a pressing need for seeking new solutions to these problems. Recently, functional nanomaterials and their nanocomposites have attracted growing interest from worldwide researchers for advanced technological applications because of their superior properties such as high surface area, high dispersion, and long-term stability. Their excellent properties make them ideal for applications in biosensing and chemosensing.

In an effort to gain a better understanding towards a more effective exploration of the properties of advanced nanomaterials and their nanocomposites for such applications, we cordially invite global researchers to contribute original research and review articles to this special issue. We are particularly interested in publishing articles reporting recent and new developments in synthesis, characterization, and applications of advanced nanomaterials and nanocomposites.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Nanomaterials and their composites for advanced sensing applications
  • Nanoparticle-based devices for detection of infectious pathogens (bacteria, virus, nosocomial infection, etc.)
  • Hybrid and composite nanomaterials for diagnostics of cancer cells
  • Nanocomposites for detection of environmental pollutants (heavy metals, organic dyes, oils, etc.)
  • Advanced bio-chem sensing technologies utilizing functional nanomaterials (colorimetric detection, electrical and electrochemical detection, fluorescence-based detection, QCM-based detection, SERS-based detection, magnetic biodetection, etc.)
  • Nanomaterials-based gas sensor technology
